Skull Candy

Happy Halloween everyone! To celebrate I thought I'd inspire you with one of my favorite things ever... skulls! I love them, and collect them wherever I go. They are so funky, but so classic, and have inspired people in the arts for centuries. Enjoy :)

In the Pink

I have this dire need for color in my life now that it is getting warm and beautiful again. No more boring NEUTRAL! Since it is breast cancer awareness month, I thought (before I missed it!) that I should inspire you with pink :)

For the love of Kelly Wearstler

For the past 15 years she's been wowing people all over the world with her combinations of color, patterns, textures, and scale. She is nothing short of genius, and the definition of cool.

Equestrian Chic

It only seems fitting that my first post be about combining my two loves, horses and design. From the age of 4 I have ridden horses competitively and drawn inspiration from them each and every day. The barn was somewhere I went to regroup, recharge, and get back to my 'zen' state of mind.

When the 'Equestrian style' came into fashion it seemed strange to me that people wanted to walk around wearing boots I had worn since I was little. I would walk through the airport coming home from a horse show and people would stop me and ask where I got my britches or boots. I almost thought it was a joke.

But after observing it a little further, I understand why people are so fascinated with the style. Its not just a fashion trend, it represents a lifestlye. Luxury, glamour, sophistication, parties, adrenaline, champagne, good friends, late nights, early mornings, hard work- All come to mind when I think of my experiences over the years within the horse world.

To me there is nothing more comfortable yet classic and sophisticated than the 'equestrian style' in a home. It means cashmere blankets and leather, monograms, collected items over the years, and a warm feeling of home. It is a style where you can slip on a cocktail dress and heels and feel like a movie star, but you can also come home with muddy boots and still be able to walk through the front door. It is the ultimate combination to me.

The great thing about the equestrian aesthetic is it works in every setting. It can be classic, fun, modern, dressy, casual... the list goes on.
