Platform 72

Off the back end of my post yesterday, I wanted to share with you the AMAZING find I found in Sydney the other week. While walking up Oxford Street, on my way to Surry Hills, I stumbled across the most outrageously fabulous art gallery, Platform 72. I was quickly drawn in by the gorgeous black ostrich leather and brass handbags that were hanging in the window {what girl wouldn't be?!} by Victoria&Maude, but soon realised there was a plethora of goodness happening in this place.

While I was there I met Juliet Rosser, one of the brains behind the amazing concept of Platform 72. The 'store' has been set up as a gallery, showcasing artist's work, as well as enabling them to get 'retail' feedback from the public. For someone like me who appreciates art but doesn't 'follow' many artists, I thought it was an excellent way to see emerging artist's work and also be able to take a piece home with you if you so choose. Best of all, 100% of the sales go back to the artists! Brilliant

'Swirls & Eye' Cushion by Sarah Howell
$90
Besides the Victoria&Maude bags, by far my pick of the bunch is Sarah Howell. She incorporates bright colours and quirky imaging, overall creating a sense of playfulness and humour within her work. Some of my favourite pieces of hers were her gorgeous, one of a kind, hand-painted cushions.

I loved this piece so much I had to get it. I LOVE the color and the in-your-face graphics.
Very pleased!

And below is one of the most fabulous mirrors I've ever come across for a child's room...

'I'll Be Your Mirror' by Ged Lardi
$3000

I LOVED the details of this mirror... Juliet said the artist {Ged Lardi} said it was an 'Earthquake Warning' because the eyes bobble. So cute! SO colorful!

Have a look at the Platform 72 website to find out more about their space, who's exhibiting there, etc. It's definitely worth the trip! There are so many extremely talented artists in this one little shop,
it's just too good to miss!

Hope everyone has a great Thursday. LAST WORK DAY THIS WEEK! Woo HOO!

xx A
