Our Little house

Hello everyone! Thank you for all the sweet messages and advice about finding my 'own style'. It's a much harder thing for me to do than I thought, but I'm working on it.

Now... on to something I can tackle MUCH easier than myself...
My {or OUR} house.

Recently, my husband and I got rid of his old couch
 {think bachelor style}.

This is what we chose to replace it, and we are in love. It's classic in it's colour {and the fact that it's leather} but it has a more modern, edgy feel to it with it's shape. We're very pleased!

Brooklyn 3 Seat Sofa in Oxford Tan
available here
As much as I adore this sofa, It can feel a little heavy given it's colour. That's why, for side tables, we chose these gorgeous, airy gold numbers, also from Freedom.

Gold Spaghetti Side Table

I almost died when I saw these side tables. Not only are they glamorous and a little edgy, they are so affordable. Ours were $129 each... steal. They really look gorgeous next to the couch.

But, to break up the brown of the couch, I have two options.

Option 1}

Trina Turk Shanghai Links accent cushion in lime green and pink
available through Black & Spiro

paired with...

Bonnie and Neil hand painted watercolour cushion in fluoro pink
available through Black & Spiro
I have these already and absolutely LOVE them. The only issue is so do the dogs. And I can't bare the thought of my little Trina Turk pillow and gorgeous Fluoro pillows getting dog hair all over them and being, lets face it, eventually ruined. I'm thinking the guest room is the best place for these beauties,
for now.

So here is my other solution, which I'm kind of obsessed with.

Option 2}
{I'm thinking this is the perfect way to hide the dog hair...}

Siberia Cushion
available here

paired with...

Hand Woven Ikat Cushion in Ink Spot
available here
or do I stay neutral with this gorgeous pillow from Bandhini Designs?
{mixed in the with furry one}

Moroccan Screen in Black
available here

How gorgeous is that combo??
At the moment we have this coffee table, but {eventually} that will be changing.

Hemnes Coffee Table in Black-Brown
available here
You can see why I want to break up the brown couch a bit in the meantime. {And really just in general}.

Eventually, I'd like to find a coffee table similar to this...

Oly's George Round Side table
available here
Obviously not a side table for a coffee table, but this look.

Thoughts?

We have a ghost chair in the room too {our living room is quite small, so the couch, coffee table, and TV console take up most of the room}. We also have two lovely moroccan poufs from the lovely
Table Tonic
One is gold {are you surprised?!} and one is in natural leather.

Table Tonic Gold Leather Moroccan Pouffe
available here

Table Tonic Natural Leather Moroccan Pouffe
available here
I'd like to add one more pouffe to our collection at some point in time. {My husband will not be happy, nor will he understand why we need three, but they just look so good together!}

All of this on top of a gorgeous hide of some description
{I'm thinking a brindle hide or zebra}.

What do you think?
{I haven't even thought of lamps yet... baby steps!}

Hope you all have a lovely Tuesday.

  1. Great sofa, Allison and I am completely obsessed with the side tables...what a perfect solution to pair with the leather, and what could be better - a deal!! Loving both of your choices, but the fur with the ikat is perfection!! Can't wait to see what you do...

  4. Allison,
    I hope you can HELP me especially being born and raised in NC. I am from VA and I found the Freedom Brooklyn 3 Seater on Pinterest and also fell in love! I contacted them and they said they do not ship to the USA. Do you know anyway I could get this sofa or do you know of anyone in the USA that sells a knock off. I love this sofa and I have my heart set on it. I hope I am not bothering you and I thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Thanks so..... Much, R

  5. Allison,

    Sorry, I had one more question. On Freedom's website they show the Brooklyn 3 Seater pictures in two differnt color browns. One looks like a Oxford Tan and one looks like a Oxford Brown (they also show the Oxford Black but I get that one) but what I don't get is both pictures the light brown and the darker brown say Oxford Tan and they are clearly two different browns. Since you ordered from them what color is the one you are showing on your website and if you could PRETTY PLEASE go to their website so you can see what I am talking about. Thanks so... much! If I lived in Australia I could solve this myself but it is so great when bloggers like you live in another country and can help people like me from USA. I love both browns but I really love the one you are showing. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for all your help!!!!!! R

    1. Hi there! I'm glad you like the couch so much, it was such a great addition to our house! I've had a look at their website, and I think the different colours you're seeing is just a change in lighting. It's confusing I know, but the colour we have is the Oxford Tan, and it is accurately shown in the first picture {also seen in the blog post above}. I'm not sure how you could get it to the US, unless you speak to a courier about shipping it to the US maybe? I've shipped things from the US to Australia, but not the other way around, so I'm not sure if I'm going to be much help. You could also contact a cargo company and see if they could facilitate putting it on a container for you? Although I think that would almost double the cost, so I don't know if it's worth it? Another alternative is to print out the images and dimensions and take it to an interior designer and have one custom made? I think that would be the way to go if your heart is really set on it. I wish I could be more help, I know how frustrating it can be when you see something from a different country and can't get it where you are.. It happens a LOT here in Australia because it's so far from everything else! Hope that helps, and good luck!
