My 'muse' for winter chic without hurting feet

So I have a fashion question for you all today, because I am torn. I have seen these 'wedge sneakers' everywhere and I have to admit, I'm kind of a fan. In fact, I think they are pretty fabulous. But, I certainly don't want them to turn into a fashion faux pas in a year or so. I'm determined they are the perfect shoe for scouring the city of Sydney for the perfect piece, which I do every time I go. And although I thoroughly enjoy it, I end up not being able to walk by the end of the day. So I thought these were a good option because even though they aren't heels per say,
they have a chic edge to them that I'm kind of in love with.

What do you think?
Is it a huge mistake or should I go for it?

Actually, after exploring it further, I'm definitely obsessed. But sometimes 'edgy' things just look ridiculous on me. I love them, but I feel like it doesn't look right on me, ya know?

I'd love to hear your thoughts... My feel are dying for a comfy stylish shoe!

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday...

Designer Spotlight: Darryl Carter

So I was a little naughty yesterday and didn't do my post... I am so sorry. However, what I did do was continue the cleansing process though out our house. I have two large bags full of clothing to get rid of {hello justification for winter shopping...}
ANDwe even dumped our couch!
Ohh HAPPY DAYS!

I thought, while I am on my cleansing kick, I would focus this week on one of my long time {and all time} favourites, Darryl Carter. I absolutely adore his style, and couldn't think of anyone better than Mr Carter himself when I think of clean, fresh design. What I love the most about his work is his ability to fill a room with antiques, yet still enable it to have a modern feel.
In my eyes, he's absolutely brilliant.

I love the feeling of this room. Its so clean and well edited,
but feels comfortable and homey as well.

image via
I absolutely love layering hides over rugs, and this is a perfect example.
The proportion of the furniture is spot on, and that armoire up against
the back wall is to die for.

image via
Another fabulous example of how animal prints work in rooms.
This room feels so natural, but also like its been here forever.

image via
I would never think to put two beds in a room like this, but it really works.
Again, the natural materials used in the room are just
breathtaking.

From one dog lover to another... need I say more?
He emphasises using art that means something to you, such as photos of your children,
family, or dog. He scours through flea markets searching for, among others, simple plaster frames.
image via
Words really cannot describe my love for this photo. Every element is doing it for me,
but that armoire in the corner is JUST amazing. The layering of neutral tones is
flawless. It feels like a retreat from the craziness that is life.

I know some of these images are old, but I find them so timeless. What I admire so much about his work is that he has developed a signature look, something that is quite hard to do in interior design.
He mixes old with the new, antique with the modern, subtle with the bold in a flawless concoction that has become the new traditional.

If you don't have his book already, I suggest you buy it.
It will change your life!

Hope you all have a lovely Thursday....

Simple Grey & White

Do you ever think about getting rid of all the clutter in your house and starting over?
I do, all the time.
Sometimes I want to clear the bookshelves,
throw away all the 'throws',
cushions, and 'clutter', and start over.
It's not always the most practical thing to do
{I have been known to be impractical every once in a while}
but sometimes it just feels good.
  Like a good cleanse.

One palate I think of when I think of simple & clean is
grey and white
It's neutral {which I love} and feels natural and fresh, not only in
interiors, but clothing and accessories as well.
Here are some of my favorite looks...

I love collections. Whatever it is, display it well and make it feel purposeful.
I adore the wall of ginger jars, planters, and ceramic vases.

No more clutter! Simple, calming, clean, and fresh.
image via
Although this has the blue tone in it, I still think of this as a really neutral, simple, but elegant way to do a bedroom.
And how fabulous is the little table in between the beds?
image via
Sometimes simple can be the most elegant way to decorate your house.
This of it as a staple accessory, like a black cocktail dress.

Because we are going into winter here in Australia,
I am ALL ABOUT warm comfy bedding.
We just bought a fur blanket similar to the one above,
and we are ALL obsessed with it
{that includes the dogs!}

I am loving this shower curtain!

And as far as the wardrobe goes...

Are you not just dying over this Jason Wu dress?
I am.
Grey & White at it's best.

Grey and White tie dye jeans from Balmain.
OMG. Amazing.

Loving the fur vests for cooler weather, especially this
white vest paired with the grey tank.

Love the shorts and the sweet tank.

how very chic and elegant.
Love this look.
